Already as a child, I loved fabric. My grandmother’s chest was a real treasure trove: the multitude of textiles fascinated me. I worked as a teacher for almost forty years, but kept on doing all kinds of crafts. When I made a bedcover out of fabric squares for my children, I did not know it was patchwork. Then I learnt some of the traditional techniques, but I knew I wanted something else. Since then I dye my own fabric, and do a lot of screenprinting. I love using natural fibres such as wool or sisal. Although making a quilt involves a lot vexing thoughts, it is also a permanent source of pleasure.
