Magdolna Solymár Acélosné
I have made textile pictures for 15 years because I don’t have the skill for painting even though I would like to save some of time spent bending over the sewing machine. I find learning the fundamentals of patchwork essential, so I used to make traditional quilts as well. I often go to workshops, ready to experiment with new materials and techniques, but have remained faithful to traditional soft, pliable textiles because those are qualities that I love.
I do not have a uniform style in colours or shapes: I love improvisation. My quilts are born from moments of inspiration, ideas suddenly cropping up, and there are rather few that involve a long process of labour.
